Caribbean wide you almost can’t count the number of beautiful sailing anchorages. The shear number of amazing places to park your sailboat, either for an over night stay or for a longer visit will be a joy for any sailor. When looking for an anchorage, first and foremost, safety first, water depth, out of the wind and weather, other boat traffic are the primary consideration. After that, what is the purpose of your stay? If you are just looking of an overnight place to sleep, you will, of course have a lot of options. If you want to do some snorkeling or scuba diving that is a much different story and of course if shore visits are wanted, do you want a walk through a lust jungle of to visit shops and see sights. On the eastern side of Great Camanoe Island you will find a really great little spot called Cam Bay. Here you will find a snug little area between the beach and the reef so get there early, before it gets crowded. The once you set your hook the previously mentioned reef is a real joy for both scuba and snorkeling adventures. Cam Bay is very quite and secluded so peaceful relaxation can be had in spades. If you are desirous of a little company Marina Cay is only a short dingy trip away.
Jost Van Dyke
One of the best Caribbean anchorages is one of the BVI’s larger islands, the world famous Jost Van Dyke. One of Jost Van Dykes lesser famous spots on it’s eastern side is call Manchioneel Bay. It is here where you can find Sandy Spit and Green Cay.several really supper anchorages can be found in this area and you will absolutely love the miles of vivid white sand beaches. The area of Manchioneel Bay is some of the very best snorkeling in the Caribbean. Some of the BVI’s better party spots are not to far away. We highly commend an excursion to Foxy’s and of course the world famous Soggy Dollar, one of our favorite beach bars.
Brewers Bay
On the Northern end of Tortola you will find you will find this beautiful and quite anchorage, There are some reefs to worry about while entering the bay, but it should be pretty easy for most skippers. This is often an overlooked anchorage and so you will have a good chance of being only one of a hand full
of boat on a hook. If you are looking for a quite relaxed place to swim and enjoy a perfect beach, you may find yourself spending several days here…. and maybe not wanting to leave.

There are many offshore areas in the BVIs and the Entire Caribbean for that matter that are off limits to prevent boater’s anchors from destroying the coral reefs. So before you decide to go rogue and just throw out the anchor anywhere, make sure you are not in a protected area, the fines can be pretty huge.
