One of our favorite exports from the beautiful Dominican Republic is Brugal Anejo rum. This Family distilled rum is a stand out in the sometime over crowded world of Rum. When Distillation began in 1888, founder Don Andres went the extra mile on quality and care in the distillation process. The family tradition has continued ever since. The results are a Superior rum that is not trying to be overly fancy and overly priced. We highly recommend this finely crafted yet moderately priced rum.

A couple of recipes that are recommended by Brugal. They are simple and let the flavor and character of this well made rum shine through. So like most good rums, you will enjoy it in a number of Tropical Cocktails. We have found it particularly good in a Pina Colada. If you find yourself in the Dominican Republic and looking for a fun and quite little activity on a hot afternoon, you should consider a visit to the distillery, it is a really nice place to visit.

The Rustic

2 oz. of Brugal Anejo rum
2 oz. high quality maple syrup
Orange twist
Lemon twist

Muddle the orange and lemon twist in a rocks glass, add rum syrup and ice. stir and enjoy.

Tradewind Tonic

one and one half oz. Brugal Anejo rum
one half oz. fresh lime juice
two oz. fresh orange juice
four oz. tonic water
