The classic tropical cocktail, the Pina Colada
All the hard work of Rupert Holmes aside, I think the world needs to revisit the pleasures of an all time classic, the Pina Colada. This delightfully tropical concoction has faded from popularity since it’s heights in the days of Disco. For a drink that is light, not too sweet and very refreshing, you all owe it to yourselves to reacquaint yourselves to its tropical flavor soon. As brother Jimmy put it, “there’s booze in the blender”, but it doesn’t have to be Tequila based. Most people would probably agree, the Pina Colada is one of the drinks most likely to put you in the warm sand and tropical breezes kinda mood. If you look, and we did, you can find numerous variations on the same theme. Buffet Beach figures that most anything with Rum, Coconut and Pineapple can be called a Pina Colada, so do your own experimenting and let us know your favorite recipe. Here are just a few.
Remember if you need help with the differences in light/white/dark rum, read Buffet Beach’s report on everything RUM.
