The Tiki Bar classic, Zombie
The Tiki Bar classic, Zombie is a rum laden cocktail that will put you in a tropical frame of mind. Who hasn’t seen this drink listed on the menu of an out school Chinese restaurant or served in a plastic “tiki” glass. The recipe for this drink goes way back and when made with good ingredients is really worth trying either again or for the first time. As with many classic Tiki bar stories, the tale begins at Donn Beache’s now fabled Don the Beachcomber’s Tiki bar in late 1934. The original recipe was kept as a state secret for many year and even went through a couple of changes over the years. Some of the original array of original ingreadiants that are not included in most current recipes include but are not limited to Velvet Falernum and Absinth as well as well as a secret ingredient containing cinnamon. In short like any good Tiki drink the mystery is as much fun as the drink.
